The House bill relating to assessments in Baltimore county.
And the report was adopted.
Also, from the same Committee, reported
The House bill entitled an Act authorizing the State's At-
torney of Baltimore City to pay a sum of money to (he State's
Attorney of Anne Arundel county, as compensation in the
case of the State vs. Ellen G. Wharton, with the following
amendments.
AMENDMENTS PROPOSED.
Amend by striking out of the preamble the word "cases,"
and inserting in lieu thereof the word "case already tried."
Amend by striking out the word "cases" in the 8th line,
and inserting in lieu thereof the word "case already tried."
Which were adopted.
The bill, as amended, was read the second time.
Mr. Claggett, from a Select Committee, reported favorably,
on
The bill to authorize the County Commissions, of Wash-
ington county, to borrow money for county purposes, with
the following amendments:
AMENDMENTS PROPOSED.
Section 6. After the words "Be it enacted," in the 6th
section, strike out the remainder of said section, and insert
as follows:
"That the said County Commissioners shall as speedily as
possible, procure and adopt a plan and specifications for said
building, and they shall invite sealed proposals, by publication
for a reasonable time, for building the Court House and Offices,
and furnishing the same, and that the party or parties
proposing to build the said Court House and offices, and the
party or parties proposing to supply the furniture tor the same,
shall present their proposals in sealed envelopes to be deposi-
ted with said County Commissioners or their Clerk, which pro-
posals shall set forth the amount of money for which he or they,
propose to do the work, or supply the furniture; and good and
sufficient security shall be taken by the said County Commis-
sioners from the party or parties contracting to erect said build-
ing and offices, and from the party or parties contracting to
furnish the same, in the name of the County Commissioners
for Washington county, as a security for the faithful performance of -such contract or contracts that may be entered into;
and that the contract or contracts for building the said Court
House and offices and furnishing the same, shall be awarded
