The Senate met.
Prayer by Rev. Mr. Southgate.
Present at roll call the following Senators:
Messrs. President, Blake, Carroll, Denson, Davis, Fields,
Henry, Longwell, Stephenson, Spates, Sellman, Spencer,
Steiner, Wilson, Williams—15.
The proceedings of yesterday were read and approved.
The President laid before the Senate the following com-
munication from the Mayor and City Council of Baltimore.
MAYOR'S OFFICE,
BALTIMORE, March 13, 1872,
To the Hon. Henry Snyder,
President of the Senate of Maryland:
DEAR SIR —Herewith, please find a copy of tr e [re
amble and resolutions of the Mayor and City -Council
of Baltimore, "requesting the Legislature of Maryland
to pass no law prohibiting the use of the wharf at the
foot of Broadway, known as the Cou -Wharf, for the land
ing of the steam ferry boats of the Broadway and Locust
Point Ferry Company," which, in accordance with said reso.
lution, I transmit to you and respectfully request you to
present the same to the consideration of the Senate of Mary-
land.

PREAMBLES AND RESOLUTIONS.
WHEREAS, The Mayor and City Council of Baltimore have
been informed that there is pending before the Legislature
of Maryland, a bill, prohibiting the future use of the wharf
at the foot of Broadway, known as the "County Wharf," as
a landing place for the steam ferry boats which connect the
city on the north side of the basin with the city on the south
side of said basin ; and
