Resolved, That having left Fatherland to enjoy the free
institutions of this country, we would not overthrow but
perpetuate them ; and as the wisest statesmen concur with
evidence of history, that the Sabbath is the great bulwark of
civil and religious liberty ; and as to make it a day of dissi-
pation for some, is to make it a day of work for others ; is
calculated to entice from many their week's earnings, before
the wants of their families are supplied ; to degrade labor-
ing people below the hope of improving their condition ; to
increase vice, crime, poverty and consequent burdensome
taxes ; to produce discontent and recklessness among the
masses, and bring on the country the terrors of Communism ;
we solemnly appeal to our legislators to preserve us from
such calamities.
Resolved, That the prompt execution of the Sunday Law,
by the civil authorities, calls forth our most grateful support,
and we pledge the same to the legislators that protect it.
Resolved, That a committee be appointed to respectfully
'present copies of these resolutions to the Senate and House
of Delegates, at Annapolis,

Mr. Spates, from the Committee on Corporations, reported
favorably,
The House bill, entitled an Act to repeal section 7, of an
Act passed January Session, 1870, chapter 387, entitled an
Act to incorporate the Washington, Colesville and Ashton
Turnpike Company, and to re-enact the same so as to read
9,9 follows.
Which was read the second time.
Also, from a Select Committee, reported favorably,
The House bill, entitled an Act to continue in force an Act
passed at December Session, 1843, entitled an Act to incor-
porate the German Union Beneficial Society of Cumberland.
