President, Blake, Compton, Carroll, Crawford, Claggett, Denson, Davis, Dennis, Earle, Fields, Henry, Jump, Longwell, Miller, Stephenson, Spates, Sellman, Spencer, Steiner, Timmons, Tuck, Wilson, Williams—24. The proceedings of yesterday were read and approved. The President laid before the Senate the following com- munication from the Board of Trade of Baltimore City : BALTIMORE, March 8, 1872. Hon. Henry Snyder, Senate of Maryland: DEAR SIR—I beg leave to hand you herewith a copy of preamble and resolutions passed by the Board of Trade of this city, on the 4th inst., relating to the improvement of the ship channel of the Patapsco River, and asking that the Mayor and City Council of Baltimore be authorized by the Legislature, in case of need, to issue bonds to the extent of five hundred thousand dollars, ($500,000,) for that purpose. I will thank you to present the same to your Body, and. shall be pleased if you can give the measure your support. I am, yours respectfully, M. L. WHITBRIDGE, Pres't Board of Trade of Baltimore.
