Being on its second reading, Mr. Earle submitted the following amendments : AMENDMENTS PROPOSED. Page 5, line 85, add after the word reserve, "Provided That the foregoing requirement of re-insurance reserve, when applied to companies organized under the laws of foreign governments, shall be calculated only upon the business of such company in the United States, and the basis of the reserve fund so required, shall be the assets of such company held and invested in the United States." .' Page 7, line 132, strike out all after the word "dollar," to the word seventh in line 102, and insert the following : "And whenever he shall have reason to believe that any com- pany is insolvent or fraudulently conducted, or that its assets- are not sufficient for carrying on the business of the same, or |
