Which were read and referred to the Committee on Finance.
On motion by Mr. Miller,
Leave was granted to the Committee on Corporations, to
report a hill entitled an Act to incorporate the Ephrata Coal
and Transportation Company of Maryland.
Mr. Williams submitted the following
JOINT RESOLUTIONS
Requesting the Governor to employ counsel to bring suit
against the Baltimore Equitable Society, to recover the
amount due by said Baltimore Equitable Society, on an in-
surance policy issued by said Society, on one of the State
Tobacco Warehouses in Baltimore City.
-Resolved by the General Assembly of Maryland, That the Governor of this State be, and he is hereby, requested, if in
his judgment, the same is advisable, to employ counsel to bring suit against the Baltimore Equitable Society, to recover
from said Baltimore Equitable Society the amount due on a;
policy of insurance on one of the State Tobacco Warehouses situated in Baltimore City, which Warehouse was, on or
about the 19th day of July, 1870, destroyed by fire.
Which was read the first time.
On motion by Mr. Tuck, it wag
Ordered, That the Committee on Internal Improvements,.
inquire into the expediency of so altering the Constitution as to provide for the election, by the people, of a Board of Pub-
lic Works, to be composed of one member from each Con-
gressional District, and to report by bill or otherwise,
Mr. Tuck, from the Committee on Judicial Proceeding, to which had been referred
The House bill, entitled an Act to repeal section 50, of"
Article V., of the Code of Public General Laws, relating to.
Appeals as amended, and re-enacted by chapter 66, passed at
January Session, 1870.
Reported favorably thereon, and said bill was read the
second time.
Mr, Spates, from the Committee on Corporations, to which
leave had been granted, reported
A bill, entitled an Act to incorporate the town of Chris
field, in Somerset county.
Which was read the first time.
