1872 OF THE SENATE. 297 In conclusion,-your Committee feel that they have dis- charged their duties to the best of their ability ; and, alter the thorough examination they have given these important State institutions, and critically scrutinized the conduct of" those entrusted with their care and management, they are prepared to bear witness to their usefulness, their good gov- ernment, and the necessity of the fostering care and benefac- tion of the State. We, therefore, recommend the usual an- nual appropriation of $15,000 for its support, All of which is respectfully submitted. JOHN R. BLAKE, Chairman, CHARLES M. JUMP, Senate Committee. JOHN H. COOPER, Chairman, DAVID RILEY, ANDREW BANKS, House Committee. Which, On motion by Mr. Blake, Was ordered to be entered on the Journal. Mr. Fields, from a Select Committee, to which leave had been granted, reported A bill, entitled an Act to authorize Wm. P. Cade, of Caroline county, for and on behalf of his children, minors, and Wm. A. R. Griffith of said county, to exchange deeds of conveyance. Which was read the first time. Mr. Spates, from a Select Committee, to which had been recommitted The Senate bill, entitled an Act to authorize the County Commissioners of Allegany county to issue bonds to raise money to build a new jail, and enlarge, improve and repair the Court House in said county, Reported said bill with amendments. Which were severally read and adopted. Said bill as amended was then read the second time, and ordered to be engrosed for a third reading. Mr. Spates, from the Committee on Public Buildings, to- which leave had been granted, reported A bill, entitled an Act to appropriate a sum of money to make certain improvements in the public buildings therein named. Which was read the first time. |
