The Senate bill, entitled a supplement to an Act to incor-
porate the Hillen Road Company of Baltimore county.
Endorsed, " Passed by yeas and nays."
The Hon. J. T. Mason appeared and delivered the follow-
ing communication from his Excellency, Governor Whyte:
EXECUTIVE DEPARTMENT.
Annapolis, Feb. 26th, 1872.
To the Senate :
GENTLEMEN—I have approved and signed the following
bill received from your Honorable Body, and transmitted the
same to the Clerk of the Court of Appeals, in accordance
with the provisions of the Constitution, viz :
An Act to repeal an Act, passed January Session, 1870,
chapter 11. entitled an Act to repeal section 204, of Article
XXI., of the Code of Public Local Laws for Washington
county, relating to Justices of the Peace and Constables
in said county, and to amend and re-enact said section 204,
Article -XXI., of the said Code, to read as follows.
WM. PINKNEY WHYTE.
The Senate bill, entitled an Act to amend Article XLV.
of the Code of Public General Laws, entitled "Husband and,
Wife," by adding a new section.
Being upon its second reading, Mr. Steiner submitted the
following amendment.
Add to the end of the first section the following words :
Provided, that in all cases where a married woman has
made such contract or agreement as a feme sole, under the
provisions of section 7 of this Article, it shall not be neces-
sary to make her husband a party to any action or suit grow-
ing out of the same.
Which was adopted.
Said bill, as amended, was then read the second time and
ordered to be engrossed for a third reading.
Senate bill, entitled an Act to add a new section to Article
L., of the Code of Public General Laws, entitled " Juries,"
Was read the second time and ordered to be engrossed for
a third reading.
On motion by Mr. Earle,
Leave was granted to the Committee on Finance to report
a bill to secure more strict compliance of the State of Mary-
land with the provisions of an Act of Congress, approved
