Mr. Henry presented the petition of Josiah Marine, R. J.
Bowley and fifty-eight other colored citizens of Dorchester
county, praying for a larger appropriation for the mainten-
ance of colored schools.
Which was read and referred to the Committee on Educa-
tion.
Mr. Blake presented the petition of George W. King and.
thirty-three others, asking the extension of the jurisdiction
of Justices of the Peace 10 the amount of $250.
Which was read and referred to the Committee on Judi-
cial Proceedings.
Mr. Earle presented the memorial of the Society of Friends
of Philadelphia, Maryland, Delaware and New Jersey, pray-
ing the passage of laws restricting the sale of spirituous
liquors.
Which was read and referred to the Committee on Fi-
nance.
Also,
Presented the petition of W. S. Payne, and about three
hundred other colored citizens of Queen Anne's county,
praying for educational advantages.
Which was read and referred to the Committee on Edu-
cation.
Mr. Wilson presented the memorial of C. C. Magruder,
and thirteen other members of the Bar of the Circuit Court of"
Prince George's county, asking an increase of the salaries of
the Judges of the Court of Appeals.
Which was read and referred to the Committee on Fi-
nance.
Also,
The petition of J. Jarboe, and one hundred and thirty-
two other citizens of Prince George's county, asking that
the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad Company may be com-
pelled to pay their dues to the State.
Which was read and referred to the Committee on Fi-
nance.
Mr, Blake presented the petition of Catharine Forester,
