* 276 JOURNAL OF PROCEEDINGS [Feb. 27, MONDAY, February 26th, 1872. The Senate met. Prayer by the Rev. Mr. Southgate. Present the following Senators : Messrs. President, Blake, Crawford, Claggett, Denson, Dennis, Earle, Fields, Henry, Steiner, Tuck, Williams—12. There not being a quorum of Senators present. On motion by Mr. Earle, The Senate adjourned. TUESDAY, February 27, 1872. The Senate met. Prayer by Rev. Mr. Highley. Present at roll call the following Senators : Messrs. President, Blake, Carroll, Crawford, Denson, Den- nis, Earle, Fields, Henry, Jump, Longwell, Miller, Stephenson, Spates, Sellman, Steiner, Timmons, Tuck, Wilson, Williams—20. The proceedings of yesterday were read and approved, The President laid before the Senate the memorial of the Baltimore and Harford Turnpike Company, praying for a hearing and investigation before the passage of the law for- feiting the charter of said Company. Which was read and referred to the Select Committee heretofore appointed on that subject. Mr. Steiner presented the petition of W. P. Hackett and two hundred and eighteen other colored citizens of Kent county, asking that a proper proportion of the school fund. be set apart for the support of separate schools for their chil' |
