Gentlemen of the House of Delegates : We propose, with the concurrence of your Honorable Body, two-thirds of each House concurring, that when the General Assembly adjourn to-day, it will stand adjourned until Monday, the 26th inst. By order, AUGUSTUS GASSAWAY, Secretary. Two-thirds of the Senators present agreeing, the said mes- sage was assented to by yeas and nays as follows : AFFIRMATIVE. Messrs. Compton, Spites, Carroll, Bellman, Crawford, Steiner, Claggett, Timmons, Denson, Tuck, Downs, Wilson, Dennis, Williams—15. Stephenson, NEGATIVE. Messrs. President, Longwell, Fields, Miller—5. Henry, Said message was then sent to the House of Delegates. Leave of absence was granted to Mr. Stephenson for one week on account of the indisposition of his family. Mr. Fields presented the petition of Hugh Duffy, and. thirty-nine other citizens of Caroline county, asking the en- actment of an optional liquor law. Which was read and referred to the Committee on Fi- nance. On motion by Mr. Downs, Leave was granted to the Committee on Finance to intro- duce a bill to refund to Richard J. Marshall, of St. Mary's county, a sum of money erroneously paid into the Treasury. Mr. Steiner presented the petition of Charles Horsey, and. thirty-nine other colored citizens of Maryland, praying the passage of a law granting to people greater facilities lor the acquisition of a rudimental education. Which was read and referred to the Committee on Edu- cation. |
