-266 JOURNAL OF PROCEEDINGS [Feb. 21, Mr. Fields presented the petition of W. T. Sullivan, and "two hundred and fifty citizens of Caroline county, asking the passage of an optional liquor law. Which was read. Mr. Fields moved to refer said petition to the Committee -on Finance. Which was adopted. Mr. Denson, from a Select Committee, to which leave had 'been granted, reported A bill, entitled an Act to prevent incompetent persons -from conducting the business of Pharmacutists and Apo- thecaries. Which was read the first time and ordered to be printed. Mr. Spates called up Senate bill, entitled an Act to authorize the County Commissioners of Allegany county to issue bonds to raise money -to build a new Jail, and to repair the Court House in said -county. Which, On motion by Mr. Spates, Was recommitted to the Select Committee from which it -was first reported. Mr Stephenson presented the memorial of forty-two citi- zens of Harford county, praying the passage of a law to pay to each of the persons who furnished substitutes during the late war the sum of $300. Which was read and referred to the Committee on Fi- nance. .Also, The petition of one hundred citizens of Harford county, praying for a charter to build a bridge over the narrows of Spesutia Island, in said county. Which was read and referred to Messrs. Stephenson, Clag- -gett and Crawford. The Senate bill, entitled an Act to repeal and re-enact section 13, of the Act of 1867, chapter 303, relating to the incorpora- tion 'of the Worcester Railroad Company. Was read the second time and ordered to be engrossed for A third reading. The Senate bill, entitled an Act to more particularly de- fine the powers and duties of County Commissioners for Har- ford county, |
