:340 JOURNAL OF PROCEEDINGS [Feb. 19, MONDAY, February 19, 1872. Senate met pursuant to adjournment. Prayer by Rev. Dr. Henderson. Present at roll call the following Senators : Messrs. President, Compton, Carroll, Crawford, Denson, Downs, Dennis, Earle, Stephenson, Spates, Sellman, Steiner, -Timmons, Wilson, Williams—15. The proceedings of Friday were read and approved. Mr. Denson desired it entered on the Journal that, had he -been in his seat when the vote was taken on the passage of the bill relating to the inspection of tobacco and tobacco in- spectors, he would have voted for said bill. The President laid before the Senate the following com- -munications from the Adjutant General: ADJUTANT GENERAL'S OFFICE, Annapolis, Feb. 16, 1872. 'EON. HENRY SNYDER, President of the Senate: SIR: In obedience to the order of the Senate, passed on the 12th inst., I have the honor to transmit the enclosed- state- ment, showing the number of men drafted during the war, And the number of substitutes furnished up to March, 1863, which constitute all the information that the records of the -office enable me to supply. There is nothing on the files of the office showing the i{ computations paid," nor the number of those who have -not already received their bounty. Respectfully, CHAS. H. McBLAIR, Adjutant General.
