Said bill was then read the second time.
Mr. Compton presented the memorial of the Trustees] of
the Agricultural College, asking the repeal of section 7, "of
the Acts of 1866, chapter 53.
Which was read and referred to the Committee on
Finance.
Mr. WiIson presented the petition of H. C. "Ward and fifty
other citizens of Prince George's county, praying that the
capital stock of the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad Company be®
compelled to pay all dues to the State.
Which was read and referred to the Committee on Finance.
Also, the petition of J. H. T. Magruder, asking an allow-
ance for counsel fees in prosecuting a suit of mandamus to
obtain possession of the State Library.
Which was read and referred to the Committee on Fi-
nance!
The President laid before the Senate the following com-
munication:

The Honorable, the President of the Senate :
SIR—In obedience to the sixth section of Article VI., of the
Constitution, I have the honor herewith to submit to you
these copies of the accounts rendered to, and settled with the
Comptroller of the Treasury, from the first day of October,
1871, to the tenth day of February, 1872, inclusive, allot
which, upon examination, will be found satisfactory and
correct.
JOHN MERRYMAN,
Treasurer.

On motion by Mr. Dennis,
Leave was granted to Messrs. Dennis, Williams and Spen-
cer, to report a bill, entitled an Act to repeal section 65, Ar-
ticle XIX., of the Code of Public Local Laws of Somerset
county, relating to the number of Justices of the Peace and.
Constables for said county, and to re-enact the same with
amendments.
Mr. Dennis, from a Select Committee, to which leave had"
been granted, reported a bill, entitled an Act to repeal sec-
tion 65, Article XIX., of the Code of Public Local Laws for
Somerset county, relating to Justices of the Peace and. Con-
stables, and to re-enact the same with amendments
