The consideration of which,
On motion by Mr. Earle,
Was postponed until Tuesday the 20th instant, and made
the order of the day for 1 o'clock that day.
On motion by Mr. Earle,
Leave was granted to Messrs. Earle, Spencer and Wil-
liams, to report
A bill, directing the State Librarian to furnish several
copies of the Code and Supplements to certain civil officers
in Queen Anne's and Kent counties.
Also,
Leave to the Committee on Finance to introduce
A bill, entitled an Act to pay M. A. Newell the sum of
six hundred and twenty dollars, for clerical assistance hired
by him to aid in preparing two annual reports upon the con-
dition of the Public Schools of the State.
Mr. Earle, from the Committee on Finance, to which had
been recommitted,
Senate bill, entitled an Act to repeal section 93, of
Article LXXXI., of the Code of Public General Laws,
entitled " Revenue and Taxes," and to enact the following
section in lieu thereof.
Reported said bill, with the following amendment:
Insert at the end of section 93,
" Provided, that whenever the capital stock of any Bank,
or other Company incorporated by this State, or organized
under the authority thereof, pays the tax on its capital
stock imposed by the provisions of this Act, the property of
all descriptions owned by said incorporated Company, and
used or employed in the transaction of its business, shall be
exempt from taxation."
Which was adopted.
Said bill, as amended, was then read the second time, and
ordered to be engrossed for a third reading.
Mr. Spencer moved that 500 copies of the report of the
Committee on Finance, in relation to tolls to be charged on
the Washington Branch of the Baltimore and Ohio Rail-
road, be printed for the use of the Senate and House of Dele-
gates.
Which was adopted.
Mr. Miller presented the petition of John W. Morgan,.
