136 JOURNAL OF PROCEEDINGS [Feb. 1 Mr. Claggett, from a Select Committee to which leave- had been granted, reported A bill, entitled an Act to repeal an Act, passed at Jan- uary Session, 1870, chapter 11, entitled an Act to repeal section 204, of Article XXI. of the Code of Public Local Laws for Washington county, relating to Justices of the- Peace and Constables for said county. Which was read the first time. Mr. Denson moved to adjourn. Which was determined in the negative. On motion by Mr. Claggett, The rules were suspended as required by section 27 of Arti- cle III. of the Constitution, in order to give a second reading this day to Senate bill, entitled an Act, to repeal an Act passed Janu- ary Session, 1870, chapter 11, entitled an Act to repeal sec- tion 204 of Article XXI. of the Code of Public Local Laws-for Washington county, relating to Justices of the Peace and, Constables of said county, as follows : AFFIRMATIVE. Messrs. President, Longwell, Blake, Miller, Oarroll, Stephenson, ( Claggett, Spates, Dennis, Sellman, Earle, Timmons, Fields, Wilson, Henry, Williams.—17. Jump, NEGATIVE—None. Said bill being on its second reading, Mr. Claggett submitted the following amendment: Amend by striking out the first section, and insert as follows: Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary' land. That chapter 11 of the Act passed at January Session 1870, entitled an Act to repeal section 204 of Article XXI. of Public Local Laws for Washington county, relating to Justices of the Peace and Constables in said county, be and, the same is hereby repealed, and that section 204 of Article XXI. of the Code of Public Local Laws for Washington county, be and the same is hereby repealed, amended and. re-enacted to read as follows. |
