WEDNESDAY, January 24, 1872.
The Senate met
Grayer by Rev. Mr. Southgate.
Present at the roll call the following Senators :
Messrs. President, Carrol1, Crawford, Claggett, Denson,
Davis, Earle, Jump, Longwell, Miller, Stephenson, Sprites,
Sellman, Spencer, Steiner, Timmons, Tuck, Williams—18.
The Journal of yesterday was read and corrected.
On motion by Mr. dagger,
Leave was granted to the Committee on Pensions to prepaid and report a lull, to provide for the payment to Sarah
A. Sook, of Washington county, widow of a soldier (if the
war of 1812, {arrears of pension lost by the misspelling or accidental omission of her same from the Act of 1870, chapter
477.
Senate hill, entitled an Act to repeal section 16, of the Act
passed at December Session, 1845, chapter 37, entitled an
Act to incorporate the Mutual Insurance (Company of Washington county, and the Several Acts supplemental thereto,
and amendatory thereto, and to amend and. re enact the 10th
section,
Was read the second time, and ordered to be engrossed for
a. third reading.
Senate bill, entitled an Act to exempt from State and city
taxation the real and personal property of the Independent
Older of Red Men of Baltimore City,
Was read the second time.', and ordered to be engrossed for
a third reading.
Senate bill, entitled an Act giving the sanction of the
GeneraI Assembly of Maryland to certain legacies bequeath-
ed by the last will and testament of George Williams, (colored,) late of Frederick county, (deceased, to) the Trustees of' the
Asbury African M. E. Churchi, in Frederick city, Md ,
Was read the third time, and passed by yeas and nays as
