50 JOURNAL OF PROCEEDINGS [Jan. 16,
Mr. Jump submitted the petition of Elizabeth Nicholson,
asking a pension.
Which was read, and referred to the Committee on Pen-
sions.
The Clerk of the House of Delegates delivered the follow-
ing bills:
House bill, entitled an Act to repeal the fifth section of
an Act, entitled an Act to incorporate the Western Avenue
Company, passed January Session, 1860, chapter 112,
Was read the first time,
And referred to Messrs. Davis, Tuck and Steiner.
House bill, entitled an Act to repeal section fifty-nine of
Act of Assembly, passed January Session, 1868, chapter 328,
entitled an Act to provide for the collection of taxes in Balti-
more county.
Was read the first time,
And referred to Messrs. Davis, Tuck and Steiner.
On motion by Mr. Tuck,
The Senate adjourned.
TUESDAY, January 16th, 1872.
The Senate met.
Prayer by Rev. Dr. Bull.
Present at roll call the following Senators :
Messrs. President, Compton, Carroll, Crawford, Claggett,
Denson, Davis, Downs, Dennis, Earle, Fields, Henry, Jump,
Longwell, Miller, Stephenson, Spates, Sellman, Spencer,
Steiner, Tuck, Wilson, Williams—23.
The Journal of Monday was read and approved.
David Fitzgerald, appointed messenger, appeared, qualified.
and entered upon the discharge of his duties.
Frederick S. Young, appointed page, appeared, qualified
and entered upon the discharge of his duties.
Mr. Steiner presented the petition of the Frederick and
Woodsbury Turnpike Road Company, praying an Act amend-
