" The Henry Watson Childrens' Aid Society of Baltimore,"
and otherwise to amend the Constitution of said Society.
On motion by Mr. Henry,
Leave was granted Messrs. Henry, Compton and Jump, to
prepare and report a bill, to repeal the forty-third, forty-
fourth, forty-sixth and severity-third sections of Article X. of
the Code of Public Local Laws of Maryland, relating to the
town of Cambridge, in Dorchester county, and to re-enact the
same in an amended form.
Mr. Claggett submitted the following preamble and reso-
lution:
WHEREAS, W. W. Corcoran has filed a bill in the Circuit
Court for the District of Columbia, against the President and
Directors of the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal, the object of
which is to appoint a Receiver, to take the control of the
Chesapeake and Ohio Canal from the State of Maryland ; and
whereas, the Attorney General is engaged, under direction
of the Governor, in the case of the State vs. E. G. Wharton;
therefore,
Be it resolved by the General Assembly of Maryland, That
the Governor lie and he is hereby authorized and empowered,
if in his judgment the public necessities require it, to appoint
additional counsel with the Attorney General to appear to
the said proceeding, and represent the interest of the State of
Maryland in the said suit.
Which were read.
Mr. Claggett moved that the rules be suspended in order
to give said Resolution a second reading this day.
