On motion by Mr. Blake,
Leave was granted to the Committee on Judicial Proceed-
ings to prepare and report a bill to repeal section 7 of article
45 of the Code of Public General Laws, entitled "Husband
and Wife," and. to re-enact a new section as section 7.
On motion by Mr. Stephenson,
The unfinished business of Friday, being a message from
the House in relation to printing, was taken up for consid-
eration.
Mr. Stephenson moved that a further consideration of said
message be postponed until Thursday, the 11th instant, and
made the order of the day for 12 o'clock, M.
On the question being put,
It was determined in the negative.
Mr. Stephenson submitted the following message :
By THE SENATE,
January 9th.1872.
Gentlemen of the House of Delegates:
We have received your message on the subject of the Le-
gislative Printing, and non-concur therein, but respectfully
present the following:
To have the work done by the lowest responsible bidder;
but as it would occupy much of the time of the Legislature
to advertise for bids, and your message does not limit the
time for such advertising, and, in the meantime, the printing
ordered would, have to be paid for at the old rates, we re-
spectfully recommend to your Honorable Body that this mes-
sage be notice to all concerned that the Senate and House
Committees on Printing will meet at their respective rooms,
separately, at 10 o'clock, A. M., January 12th, 1872, when
those bidding may be present to make their bids, but all pro-
