The House met, and
Was opened with prayer by the Rev. Dr. Bull.
Present at the call of the roll, the following members:
Messrs. German, (Speaker,) Colton, of St. Mary's, Dunbar,
Wilmer, Hurtt, Wells, Duvall,Henkle,Bond, Sparrow, Stone,
Shipley, Turner, Foard, of Bait. co., Litzinger, Spencer,
Banks, Butler, Goldsborough, Roach, Waller, Dougherty,
Smith, Vickers, Radcliffe, Groome, Mearns, Penington, Scott,
Bowie, Eareckson, Ford, of Q. A., Franklin, Parker, Phil-
lips, Rowe, Delaplane, Miller, Routzahn, Riley, Baldwin,
Streett, McCosker, Hamilton, T. H., Cooper, Hamilton, C. R.,
Jamart, Staylor, Stewart, Travers, dark, of Bait. city, Col-
ton, of Bait, city, Kirk, Chaisty, Harig, Feig, McColgan,
Markland, Griswold, Young, of Wash. co., Ardinger, New-
comer, Whitson, Hilton, Biggs, dark, of Mont , Porter,
Coles, Young, of Alle., Robinette, Steele, Lamotte, L A. J.
Polk, Lamotte, H. H., Linthicum, Johnson, Langrell—77.
Mr. Baldwin presented the petition of L. R. Martin and.
forty-eight other citizens of Harford county, praying the
passage of a law requiring the Baltimore and Harford Turn-pike Company to place their road in a good and safe condi-
tion.
Also,
The petition of Elisha Davis and thirty other citizens of
Harford and Baltimore counties, praying the passage of &
law to compel the Baltimore and Harford Turnpike Company
to place their road in a good and. safe condition.
Which were severally read, and referred to the Select
Committee on that subject.
Mr. Langrell presented the petition of J. C. Bell, pub-
lisher of the Eastern Shoreman, of Wicomico county, for
compensation for publishing defaulters, as per order of the
Comptroller.
Which was read, and referred to the Committee on Claims.
Mr. Staylor presented the petition of T. Hanson Belt, &
soldier of the war of 1812, asking for a pension.
Which was read and referred to the Committee on Pen,""
sions.
