The bill entitled an Act to authorize the Governor to ap-
point a Commissioner to examine the fisheries of the State,
with a view to their protection and improvement, to confer
with the Fishery Commissioners of other States, and to re-
port to the next General Assembly, and to appropriate a sum
of money to defrey the expenses.
Which was read a first time and referred to the Commit-
tee on Ways and Means.
Also, delivered,
The bill entitled an Act to enable the Mayor and City
Council of Baltimore, to provide for laying out and open-,
ing North Avenue, between York Avenue and Bel Air Ave-
nue.
Which was read a first time and referred to a Select Com-
mittee, consisting of Messrs. Chaisty, C. R. Hamilton and
T. H. Hamilton.
Also, returned,
The bill entitled an Act to provide for cancelling the stocks
or bonds of the State of Maryland now held by the Treasurer
to the credit of the sinking fund, and to provide for the in-
vestment of the augmentations of said fund.
Endorsed, "Passed by yeas and nays with proposed amend-
ments." *
AMENDMENTS PROPOSED.
Section 4, line 8, strike out the words "the Treasury,"
and insert in lieu thereof, "the place where made pay-
able."
( Section 4, line 8, strike out all after the word "giving,"
to the word "the," in line 12, and insert in. lieu thereof. the
words "not less than thirty days notice to the holder of such
overdue debt, that on a day named in said notice.
Section 5, line 4, insert after the word "certificate," the
words "maturing at some future day."
