Mr. Riley submitted the following order: Ordered, That S. H. Patterson, a page of this House, be excused from further service on account of sickness. Which was adopted, Mr. Smith submitted the following order : Ordered, That a Committee of three be appointed, who shall, after the adjournment of the General Assembly, ex- amine the books and accounts of the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal Company, and report the results thereof at as early a day as possible, to the State Board of Public Works, and that the said Committee have power to send for persons and papers. Which was read, and On motion of Mr. Stewart, Laid on the table. Mr. Linthicum submitted, the following order : Ordered; That Mr; Ford, of Queen Anne's, be excused from attendance at. this House until Monday next. Which was adopted. Mr. Spencer submitted the following order : Ordered, That Mr. Polk be excused until Monday, on ac- count of sickness in his family. Which was adopted. Mr. Langrell submitted the following order : In consideration of the arduous duties incumbent upon the postmaster of this House, and the great responsibility attach- ing thereto, and also the faithful and efficient manner in which he has discharged his duty ; therefore, Ordered, That the Chairman of the Committee on Claims, issue his warrant to Wm. M. Canby, postmaster, for $100 extra allowance. Which was rejected. Mr. Stone, Chairman of the Committee on Ways and Means, reported favorably, |
