The House bill entitled an Act to repeal the Act of 1870,
chapter 477, entitled an Act to repeal the Act of 1867, chap-
ter 385, which provides for paying pensions to soldiers and
widows of deceased soldiers of the war of 1812.
Said bill being upon a third reading,
Mr, Chapman, (by unanimous consent,) submitted the fol-
lowing amendment:
A AMENDMENT PROPOSED.
Page 21, in line 51, after the word "circumstances," strike
out the words, "and not drawing a pension from the General
Government."
The question then recurring upon the adoption of the-
amendment,
Mr. Chapman demanded the yeas and nays.
The demand being sustained, the yeas and nays were called and appeared as follows :
