FRIDAY, March 29, 1872.
The House met and was opened with prayer by the Rev.
Mr. Smiley.
Present at the call of the roll the following members:
Messrs. Gorman, Speaker. Cotton, of St Mary's, Dun-
bar, Wilmer, Hurtt, Wells, Duvall, Henkle, Bond, Spar-
row, Chapman, Stone, Shipley, Turner, Foard. of Balto-
county, Litzinger, Spencer Hanks. Butler, Goldsborough.
Roach, Waller, Dougherty, Smith, Vickers, Radcliffe,
Groome, Mearns, Penington. Scott, Sasscer, Bowie, Eareckson, Ford,of Queen Anna's, Franklin, Parker,Phillips, Rowe,
Delaplane, Miller', Routzahn. Riley, Baldwin, Streett, Hard,
castle, Deweese, McCosker, Hamilton. T. H., Cooper, Hamil-
ton, C. R., .Jamart, Foster, Staylor, Stewart, Travers, Clark,
of Baltimore city. Colton, of' Baltimore city, Kirk, Chaisty,
Harig;, Feig;, McColgan, Markland, Griswold, Young, of
Wash., Ardinger, Newcomer, Whitson, Hilton, Riggs, dark,
of Mont , Porter. Coles, Young, of Alle., Robinette, Steele,
Lamotte, L A. J., Polk, Lamotte, H. H., Linthicum, Johnson, Langrell —82.
Mr Banks presented the petition of A. S. Cooper, R. O.
Tracey and (others, praying tin" General Assembly to pass an
Act allowing the num of three hundred dollars to all drafted
men of Maryland who paid communication money or furnish-
ed substitutes in the armies of the United States, who have
not heretotore been provided for by the State.
Also,
The petition of Geo, W. Jordan, Elisha Wheeler and oth-
ers, praying the General Assembly to pass an Act allowing
the sum "of three hundred 1 dollars to all drafted men of Mary-
land, who paid commutation money or furnished substitutes
in the armies of the United States, who have not heretofore
been provided for by the State.
Which were severally read and referred to the Committee
on Ways and Means
Mr. Cooper, Chairman of a Select Committee, to whom
was referred
The Senate bill entitled an Act to repeal chapter 411,
passed January Session, WO. entitled an Act to add addi-
tional sections to Article LXIX., of the Code of Public Gen-
eral Laws, title "Officers," regulating and prescribing the
