BY THE HOUSE OF DELEGATES,
January 19, 1872
Gentlemen of the Senate:
We propose, with the concurrence of your Honorable
Body, to appoint a Joint and Special Committee of five,
(three from this House and two from the Senate), to notify
the Hon George R Dennis, that he has been this day duly
elected to represent this State in the United States Senate
for six years, from and after the fourth day of March, 1873.
We have appointed on the part of this House Messrs.
Linthicum, Stone, and Coles

Chief Clerk.
"Which was lead, assented to, and sent to the Senate.
The Secretary of the Senates delivered the following bills :
A bill, entitled a supplement to an Act, entitled an Act,
to incorporate the Germania Library Association, of Balti-
more, passed at the December Session, eighteen hundred and
forty-seven, chapter 37, endorsed " Passed by yeas and
nays."
Which was read a first time, and referred to the Commit-
tee on Corporations.
A bill, entitled, an Act to legalize the bequest of Mrs.
Ann Stump, late of Harford county, to the " Deer Creek
Harmony}- Church," in Harford county, endorsed, "Passed
'by yeas and nays "
Which was read a first time, and referred to the Committee on the Judiciary.
Also,
Returned the Joint Resolution requesting the Governor to
employ additional counsel in cases of the State, now pending
in the Territory of Columbia
Endorsed, "Passed by yeas and nays with proposed amend-
ment."
AMENDMENT PROPOSED,
Strike out the words, "Employ additional Counsel," and
* insert the words "Direct the Attorney General."
Which was read.
The question being upon concurring in the amendment,
On motion of Mr. Streett,
The amendment was non-concurred in.
