The bill entitled an Act to provide for the inspection of
guano, and artificially manufactured or manipulated ferti-
lizers imported or brought into, or manufactured for sale in
The City of Baltimore.
Endorsed "Reported unfavorably from the Committee on
Agriculture, and report adopted."
Also,
The Joint Resolutions requesting our Senators and Repre-
sentatives in Congress, to use their efforts to procure the pas-
sage of a law authorizing the employment of an Engineer to
ascertain the practicability of cutting a channel from the
Atlantic Ocean, into the waters of Synapuxent Bay, &c.
Endorsed "Passed by yeas and nays."
The Joint Resolutions requesting our Senators and Repre-
sentatives in Congress, to use all proper means to procure the
passage of an Act during the- present Session, authorizing
the acceptance of the proposals of the International Steam-
ship Company, made to the Secretary of the Navy, looking
to the establishment of an Iron Steamship Building Yard,
under the authority of the General Government, for the
revival of ship-building and ocean commerce.
Said resolutions being upon a second reading,
The question recurring upon the adoption of the amend-
ments, submitted by the Committee on Federal Relations on
the 19th instant, to strike out section 2, of said Resolution,
and make section 3, read section 2.
Pending which,
Mr. Groome demanded the previous question,
The question then being, "Shall the main question be now
.put?"
It was decided in the affirmative,
The question then recurring upon the adoption of the pro-
posed amendments,
Mr. McCosker demanded the yeas and nays,
The demand being sustained,
