112 JOURNAL OF PROCEEDINGS [Jan 19,
Mr. Baldwin, Chairman of Select Committee, reported
favorably,
A bill, entitled an Act to authorize and empower the
Boards of County Commissioners of Baltimore and Harford
counties, at the joint expense of said counties, to build a
bridge over the Little Gunpowder, at or near Joshua R.
Green's ford.
Which was read a first time.
Mr. Hardcastle (the rules being suspended) presented the
petition of Chas. L. Tarr and others, asking for the passage
of a law relating to Road, to Marsh and Meadows.
Which was read, and referred to the Committee on the
Judiciary..
On motion of Mr. Street,
The House proceeded to the consideration of the bill,
entitled an Act to repeal Section 15, Article L., titled.
"Juries," of the Code of Public General Laws, and to re-enact the same with amendments) giving to the State the
right of peremptory challenge in certain cases.
Said bill being upon a third reading,
On motion of Mr. Street,
The vote by which the bill was ordered to be engrossed
for a third reading was reconsidered.
The bill then being upon a second reading,
Mr. Street submitted the following amendment :
In line 3, after the word "is," insert the words "death or,"
Which was adopted.
The bill as amended was then read a second, time, and
Ordered to be engrossed for a third reading.
Mr. Baldwin (the rules being suspended) presented the peti-
tion of Elizabeth Seinurs, asking for a pension.
Also, the petition Margaret Wright, asking for a pension.
Which were severally read and referred to the Committee
on Pensions.
The bill, entitled an Act to complete the Worcester and
Somerset railroad being upon a second reading,
On motion of Mr. Stone,
The further consideration thereof was postponed, and the
bill referred to the Committee on Ways and Means.
