Philokalian and Philomathean Societies of St. John's Col-
lege, on Friday, March 22, at 8 o'clock, P. M.
Which was rend, and,
On motion of Mr. Jamart,
The invitation was accepted.
Mr. Linthicum presented the petition of John K. dark
and twenty-eight other citizens of Howard county, asking
for the passage of a law for the protection of sheep from the
ravages of doge.
Which was read and referred to the Committee on Agri-
culture.
Mr. Polk presented the petition of J. Y. McComas, and
fifty-one other citizens of Carroll and Howard counties, ask-
ing the passage of an Act leaving the sale of liquor to the
voters of each election district in this State, to decide
for or against the sale of liquors in the respective districts.
Which was read and referred to the Committee on the
Judiciary.
Mr. Groome presented the petition of two hundred and
twenty-seven female residents of Port Deposits and vicinity,
asking that the Legislature will pass no law authorizing
places of amusement or liquor saloons to be kept open on the
Sabbath.
Which was read and referred to the Committee on Ways
and Mean-.
Mr. Stewart presented the memorial of Kelly, Piet & Co.,
John M. Brewer and Lewis Mayor, asking to b paid for
services rendered the State in regard to the Laws of the
Land Office.
Which was read and referred to a Select Committee, con-
sisting of Messrs. Stewart, Chaisty and Foster.
Mr. Smith presented the petition of Josiah Hughes and
other citizens, asking for a change in the law regulating the
taking of fur animals in Dorchester and Wicomico counties.
Which, was read and referred to the Dorchester delegation.
Mr. H. H. Lamotte presented a petition of Susanna Sharer,
asking to be restored to the pension list.
Which was read and referred to the Committee oh Pen-
ions.
Mr, Miller submitted the following order :
Ordered, that Mr. Phillips be granted leave of absence un-
til Wednesday next.
Which was adopted.
