NEGATIVE—None.
Said bill was then sent to the Senate.

Mr. Hopkins moved that the House do now proceed to the
consideration of the unfinished business of the morning ses-
sion, being the School bill.

Mr. Wiley moved that the House do now proceed to the
consideration of bills upon a third reading.

Mr. Marbury moved that the House do now proceed to the
consideration of the free railroad bill.

Decided in the negative.

The question then recurring upon the adoption of the mo-
tion submitted by Mr. Wiley,

It was decided in the negative.

The question then recurring upon concurring in the mo-
tion submitted by Mr. Hopkins,

It was decided in the affirmative,

And the House proceeded to the consideration of the bill
entitled an Act to repeal an Act passed at the session of 1868,
entitled Public Education, providing a general system of free
public schools for the State of Maryland, and to repeal all
laws inconsistent therewith, and to re-enact the same with
amendments.

Mr. Choate submitted the following amendment:

Chapter 4, sec. 1, line 5, Strike out the word "sixty" and
insert one hundred.

Which was rejected.

Mr. Hopkins submitted the following amendment:

Chapter 4, sec. 1, line 5, strike out the word "sixty" and
insert the words eighty-five.

Which was read.

The question recurring upon the Adoption of the amend-
ment,
