insert the word: five.

Which was rejected.

Mr. Biddle submitted the following amendment:

Chapter II., section 2, strike out all after the word "per-
sons," in line 2, to word "to," in, line 3, aad insert: appointed
by the Judges of the Circuit Court of said county.

Which was read.

Mr. Merrick submitted the following amendment to the
amendment:

Strike out the words "Judges of the Circuit Court of said
county," and insert: the Governor.

Which was rejected.

The question then recurring upon the adoption of the amend-
ment submitted by Mr. Biddle,

It was adopted.

Mr. Merrick submitted the following amendment:
Chapter II., section 2, line 4, strike out the word "election,"
and insert the word: appointment.
Which was adopted.
Mr. McCreery submitted the following amendment:

Chapter II., section 3, strike out all after the word "be,"
in line 2, to the word "year,' in line 4, and insert: elected
by the qualified voters of each school district, on the first day
May of each year.

Which was rejected.

Mr. Hammond submitted the following amendment:

Chapter III., section 3, line 5, after the word "amount,"
insert: not exceeding one thousand dollars per annum.

Which was adopted.

Mr. Brattau submitted the following amendment:

Chapter III., section 4,, line 3, add after the word "pur-'
pose," the words: under the direction and advice of the
Attorney General.

Which was adopted.

Mr. Kilbourn submitted the following amendment:

Strike out section 5.

Which was rejected.
