The House met and was opened with prayer by the Rev
Mr. Henderson.

Mr. Hardcastle, of Caroline, presented the petition of Jas.
R. Heather, Jas. N. Smith, and other citizens, asking an
additional Justice of the Peace for district No. 1, Caroline
county, Maryland.
Which was read and referred to the Committee on the Ju-
diciary.
Also,
The petition of John W. Temple, John Daily, and others,
asking that London Kinnamon, one of the securities on the
bond of Thos. C. Hyatt, late Collector of State and county
tax for the first district of Caroline county, be released from
the payment thereof.
Which was read and re'erred to the Caroline delegation
and Mr. Brown.
Mr. Duke presented the petition of Jas. A. Bond and 150
other tax payers, protesting against the passage of a bill to
authorize the County Commissioners of Calvert county to levy
a tax upon the property of the county to build the Baltimore
and Drum Point Railroad.
Which was read and referred to the Calvert delegation and
Mr. Baldwin, of Anne Arundel.
Mr. Colton presented the petition of Frederick Raine, ask-
ing for compensation for publishing the laws of 1868 in the
German Correspondent.
