So the amendments submitted by Mr. Purnell were
adopted.

Mr. Merrick submitted the following amendment:

Sec. 1, title "Miscellaneous," at the end of line 21, add:
For grading, paving and improving the grounds within
the enclosure of the Governor's Mansion, two thousand dol-
lars, to be expended under the direction of the Superintend-
ent of Labor and Agriculture, the work to be done by special
contract.

Which was adopted.

Mr. Merrick submitted the following amendment:

Sec. 1, title "Miscellaneous," at the end of line 21, add:
Amount to pay repairs done at Eastern Hay Scales, two hun-
dred and sixty-six dollars and fourteen cents, for repairs done
to wharf at State Tobacco Warehouse, No 1, fourteen hun-
dred and thirty-one dollars.

Which was adopted.

Mr. Merrick submitted the following amendment:

Sec. 1, title "Miscellaneous," at the end of line 21, add:
For erecting additional sleeping apartments within the Mary-
land Penitentiary, thirty thousand dollars.

Which was adopted. |

Mr. Wells submitted the following amendment:

Under title "Miscellaneous," in lines 11 and 12, strike out
the words "Augustus Gassaway, Secretary of the Senate,"
and insert the words: the Superintendent of Labor and Agri-
culture.

Which was rejected.

Mr. Meekins submitted the following amendment:

Under title "Miscellaneous," line 12, before the word "dol-
lars," strikeout the words "fifteen hundred," and insert the
words: one thousand.

Mr. Wells submitted the following amendment to the
amendment:

Strike out the words "fifteen hundred," and insert the
words: two thousand.

Which was rejected,
