Which was read and referred to the Committee on Ways
and Means.

Mr. Gorman presented the petition of Mary Wells, of
Howard county, a widow of a soldier of the war of 1812-14,
asking for a pension.

Also,

The petition of H. Rowles for a pension.

Which were severally read and referred to the Committee
on Pensions.

The Speaker laid before the House the petition of William
Schaeffer, William Rapp and several, hundred German-
American residents and tax-payers in Baltimore city, re-
monstrating against the appropriation by the State, of money
for the purpose of aiding private benevolent institutions.

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Ways
and Means.

Mr. Gardner presented the petition of E. Sasche & Co.,
asking to furnish the State with illustrated map of Balti-
more.

Which was read and referred to the Committee on the
Library.

Mr. Crawford presented the petition of L, M. Dorman
and 50 others, of Wicomico county, praying the passage of a
law prohibiting the hauling of seines after the 10th of May
of each year.

Which was read and referred to the Wicomico delegation
and Mr. Brattan.

Mr. Woolford submitted the following order :

Ordered, That it be entered on the Journal of this House
that B. H. Harrington is absent from his seat in consequence
of a summons to attend Circuit Court at Washington, D. C.

Which was adopted.

Mr. Shower submitted the following order :

Ordered, That Mr. Jordan be granted leave of absence
until Wednesday next.
