a third reading.

The bill entitled an Act to authorize John H. Stokes, of
Harford county, surviving Trustee, to sell and convey a par-
cel of land to the Trustees of Deer Creek Monthly Meeting of
Friends, for the use of their members at Broad Creek Meeting

Was read a second time and ordered to be engrossed for

a, third reading.

The bill entitled an Act to authorize and empower the
County Commissioners of Montgomery county to subscribe
to the capital stock of Turnpike Companies in Montgomery
county,

Was read a second time and ordered to be engrossed for
a third reading.

The Senate bill entitled an Act to enlarge the powers of
the Commissioners of Washington county, under Article 21,
of the Code of Public Local Laws, entitled "Washington
County," under the head of "County Commissioners," by
adding thereto the following sections,

Was read a second time.

The hour having arrived for taking up the order of the day,
the House proceeded to the consideration of the bill entitled
an Act to amend the Act passed on 30th day of March 1868,
chapter 406, entitled an Act to repeal the Act passed the 23d
of March 1867, chapter 184, entitled an Act to repeal Article
71, of the Code of Public General Laws, in the State of Mary-
land, entitled " Oysters," and to re-enact the same with
amendments, by adding the following sections thereto,

Was read a second time and ordered to be engrossed for a.
third reading.

The House then proceeded to the consideration of the next
order of the day. being the bill entitled an Act to appropriate
the sums of money therein mentioned, to pay the claims of
John Murphy & Co., heirs-at-law of A. M. Payne, assignee
of Seth M. Whaley, Thomas E. Dell, Thomas Terry, C A. S.
Wolf, James S. Franklin, S. Jackson & Co., James Hopkins,
Samuel Stewart, Owen Disney, Jesse Warden, James E.
Tate and Cushings & Medairy,

Said bill being upon its second reading,

Mr. Bowlus submitted the following amendment:

Section 1, line 2, strike out the words "pen knives," and
insert the word stationery.
