MONDAY, March 14, 1870.

The House met and was opened with prayer by the Rev.
Father Jaeckel.

Present at the call of the roll the following members :

Messrs. Latrobe, (Speaker,) Loker, Beck, Wiltner, Kil-
bourn, Baldwin, of Anne Arundel, Mitchell, Chapman,
Carroll, Cameron, Shipley, Gatch, Hammond, Hardcastle,
of Talbot, Brattan, Lankford, Harrington, Woolford, Meekins,
Owens, Richards, Biddle, Marbury, Thomas, of Queen
Anne's, Brown, Dennis, Purnell, Thomas, of Frederick,
Bowlus, McCreery, Baldwin, of Harford, Hopkins, Garey,
Banner, Hamilton, Cooper, Morse, Webb, Wilson, of Balti-
more city, Wiley, Colton, Collins, Marshall, Neill, Sword,
Seibert, Watkins, Kean, Myers, Shower, Jordan, Winters,
Crouse, Merrick, Gorman, Crawford, Gordy—55.

Mr. Shipley presented the petition of Charles Worthing-
ton, Alex. D. Brown, Wm. F. Frick, John W. Garrett,
Wm T. Walters, J. Hall Pleasants, Sol. Hillen, Jr., David
M. Ferine, Wm. Devries and 60 others, asking for the pas-
sage of a law preventing cattle and swine from running at
large, and taxing dogs.

Which was read and referred to the Baltimore county
delegation.

Mr. Gatch presented the petition of August Weise, asking
remuneration for the destruction of his property by a mob.

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Claims.

Mr. Dennis presented the petition of Thos. Lambden, Geo.
W. Taylor and 30 other citizens of election district No. 1, of
Worcester county, in favor of abolishing wood inspections.

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Inspec-
tions.

Also,

The petition of R. T. Todd and all the merchants of Snow
Hill, in favor of abolishing inspections.

Which was read and referred to the same Committee.

Also,

The petition of C. L. Williams and other citizens of Berlin,
Worcester county, against the passage of an Act imposing
a license of three hundred dollars on non-resident Traders.
