Which was read and referred to the Baltimore county dele-
gation.

Mr. Colton presented the petition of John H. Smith & Co.,
praying a return of taxes paid in error.

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Claims.

Mr. Choate presented the petition of Jesse Slingluff, Dr.
Bull, John S. Berry and others, praying for the granting of
a Charter for a Passenger Railway, known as the Baltimore,
Calverton and Powhatan Railway Company.

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Corpo-
rations.

Mr. Martin presented the petition of Ann Fowler, of St.
Mary's county, praying for a pension.

Which wai read and referred to the Committee on Pen-
sions.

Mr, Richards presented the petition of Lloyd Balderson,.
R. A. Evans, A. R. Magraw and 81 other citizens of Cecil
county, praying the passage of a law to enable the citizens
of any election district, town or county, within the State, to
determine by ballot whether any liquor shall be sold within
the same.

Which was read and referred to the Committee on the
Judiciary.

Mr. Crawford presented the petition of T. R. Conaway, W.
A. Furbush and 240 others, against the passage of a law-
prohibiting the staking of seines in Nanticoke river.

Which was read and referred to the Committee on the
Chesapeake Bay and its Tributaries.

Mr. Murdock presented the petition of Mrs. F. H, Ken-
nedy and others, against the repeal of the Act of 1832, chap-
ter 45, closing an alley in Hagerstown.

Which was read and referred to the Washington delega-
tion.

Mr. Jordan submitted the following order :

Ordered, That George A. Shower have leave of absence
for three days after to-day.

Which was adopted.

Mr. Woolford submitted the following order:

Ordered, That Mr. Crawford have leave of absence until
Wednesday next.

Which was adopted.
