Hardcastle, of Caroline, Garey, Cooper, Morse, Wilson, of
Baltimore city, Wiley, McLane, Cotton, Markland, Neill,
Sword, Seibert, Hilton, Veitch, Watkins, Kean, Standish,
Myers, Percy, Shower, Jordan, Winters, Crouse, Merrick,
Gorman—54.

The House proceeded to the consideration of the unfinished
business of the morning session, being the order of the day.

A bill entitled an Act to repeal the Act of 1868, chapter
414, entitled an Act to repeal an Act entitled an Act to re-
peal Article 63 Code of Public General Laws, relating to
Militia and sections 652 to 770, both inclusive of Article 4,
Code of Public Local Laws, relating to Militia in the City of
Baltimore, and to re-enact the same with amendments, and
to enact the following in lieu thereof:

Said bill being upon a second reading,

Mr. Hardcastle, of Talbot, submitted the following amend-
ment :

Amend section 1, by adding thereto, in lino 5, the follow-
ing words, viz :

And it shall be the duty of the different Officers of Registra-
tiont brough out the State to furnish annually to the Adjutant
General, a list of all persons in their respective districts
composing the Militia as aforesaid.

Which was adopted.

Mr. Baldwin, of Anne Arundel, submitted the following
amendment:

At the end of lirst section, add :

And such persons as are now, or may hereafter be, ex-
empted by law.

Which was rejected.

Mr. Hardcastle, of Talbot, submitted the following amend-
ment :

Amend section 6 by inserting after the word " Ordnance,"
in line 4, the words : Chief of Artillery.

Which, was adopted.

Mr. Harrington submitted the following amendment:

Strike out, in section six, line two, the words, "two thou-
sand," and insert fifteen hundred.

Which was read.

The question recurring upon the adoplion of the amend-
ment,
