On motion of Mr. Merrick,

Leave was granted to the Committee on Pensions to intro-
duce a bill repealing the Acts allowing pensions to soldiers
and widows of soldiers of the war of 1812, and providing for
granting pensions by the County Commissioners, and Appeal
Tax Court of Baltimore city.

Mr. Mitchell, Chairman of the Committee on the Judici-
ary;

Reported favorably,

A bill entitled an Act to repeal section 35, of Article 18,
of the Code of Public General Laws of Maryland, relating to
Clerks of Courts, and to re-enact the same with amendments.

Which was read a first time.

Mr. Merrick, Chairman of a Select Committee, reported
favorably,

A bill entitled an Act to confirm and approve an Act
passed at January session, 1868, chapter 353, entitled an
Act to authorize the Commissioners of Howard county to sub-
scribe to the capital stock of turnpike roads in said county.

Which was read a first time.

Mr. Crawford, Chairman of a Select Committee, reported
favorably,

A bill entitled an Act to authorize and direct the County
Commissioners of Wicomico county, to levy a. sum of money
to pay the expense of legal proceedings about to be instituted
for the recovery of the money necessary for the erection of a
Court House a'nd Jail for said county, according to the tenor
and condition of a certain bond heretofore executed by cer-
tain residents of said county.

Which was read a first time.

Mr. Brattan, Chairman of a Select Committee, reported
favorably,

A bill entitled an Act to regulate the drawing and selec-
tion of Jurors in Somerset and Worcester counties.

Which was read a first time.

The Joint Resolutions returning the thanks of the General
Assembly to S. Teackle Wallis, Esq., for the delivery of his
eulogy upon the life and character of the late George Pea-
body,

Were read a second time, and passed by yeas and nays, as
