SATURDAY, February 26, 1870.

The House met and was opened with prayer by the Rev.
Mr. Swope.

Present at the call of the roll the following members:

Messrs. Latrobe, (Speaker,) Martin, Beck, Kilbourn, Duke,
Mitchell, Cameron, Shipley, Gatch, Hammond, Hardcastle,
of Talbot, Lankford, Harrington, Touchstone, Owens, Bid-
die, Marbury, Duvall, Thomas, of Frederick, Bowlus, Rit-
ter, White, Harris, Baldwin, of Harford, Hopkins, Hard-
castle, of Caroline, Garey, Banner, Hamilton, Cooper, Morse,
Blake, Wilson, of Baltimore city, Wiley. McLane, Colton,
Gardner, Neill, Murdock, Seibert, Watkins, Kean, Wilson,
of Allegany, Myers, Percy, Shower, Crouse; Merrick, Gor-
inan, Crawford, Gordy—51.

Mr. Neill presented the petition and accompanying exhibit
of Hon. Daniel Weisel, praying compensation for profes-
sional services.

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Claims.

Mr. Percy presented the petition of A. M. L. Bush and 52
others, praying for the renewal of the charter of the Cum-
berland and Somerset Turnpike Company, located in Alle-
gany county.

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Cor-
porations.

Mr. Blake submitted the following order :

Ordered, That two thousand copies of Hon. S. Teackle
Wallis' address before this House, together with the resolu-
tion of invitation, &c., be printed for the use of the members
of this House.

Which was read.

Mr. Colton submitted a communication from the State
Printer, offering to print said address, &c., free of charge.

The order was then adopted.

Mr. Gardner submitted the following order :

Ordered, That it be placed on the Journal that Mr. Mar-
shall is absent from his seat in consequence of urgent busi-
ness.

Which was adopted.

Mr. Colton submitted the following order :

Ordered, That Charles Nugent, a Page in this House,
have leave of absence for two clays.
Which was adopted.
