Mr. McLane submitted the following message :

Gentlemen of the Senate :
We have the honor to inform your Honorable Body that the
House of Delegates is now in session, and prepared to receive
your Honorable Body in Joint Assembly, when the Eulogy
on the late George Peabody will be pronounced by S. Teackle
Wallis, Esq.

Which was read, assented to and sent to the Senate.
The Secretary of the Senate delivered the following mes-
sage :
BY THE SENATE,
Feb. 25, 1870.
Gentlemen of the House of Delegates:
We have received your message inviting us to the Hall of
your Honorable Body, to hear the oration upon the life and
character of the late George Peabody pronounced by S.
Teackle Wallis, Esq., and beg to say that we are ready to
avail ourselves of your invitation.

Which was read.
The Senate of Maryland immediately thereupon entered
the Hall of the House of Delegates and took the seats assign-
ed them upon the floor, along with the Governor and the
Court of Appeals, who had preceded them.
The Select Committee appointed for the occasion then ap-
peared in the Hall, accompanied by the orator of the evening,
Hon. S'. Teackle Wallis, and conducted him to the Speaker's
Chair; whereupon, the Speaker, as Chairman of the Joint
Assembly, introduced Mr. Wallis., who proceeded to deliver
his eulogy upon the life and character of the late George
Peabody.

On motion of Mr. Webb,
The Joint Assembly adjourned.
On motion of Mr. Blake,
At 10 1/2 o'clock, P. M., the House adjourned until to-mor-
row morning at eleven o'clock.
