Mr. Merrick, Chairman of the Committee on Ways and
Means, reported favorably.

A bill entitled an Act to incorporate a House of Refuge for
colored children, and to appropriate a sum of money to the
same.

Which was read a first time.

Mr. Bowlus, Chairman of the Committee on Manufactures,
reported favorably,

A bill entitled an Act to relieve and protect the cotton and
woolen, and other factories of the State of Maryland.

Which was read a first time.

Mr, Morse, Chairman of the Committee on Corporations,
reported favorably,

A bill entitled an Act to authorize the Roman Catholic
Archbishop of Baltimore to sell a certain parcel of land.

Which was read a first time.
Also, reported favorably,

A bill entitled an Act to incorporate the District of Colum-
bia, Upper Marlboro' and Hill's Landing Turnpike Com-
pany.

the Laws passed January session, 1868, and to re-enact the

County Commissioners of Cecil county, in their discretion, to
provide for repairing or remodeling the present Jail and
