Leave was granted to the Carroll delegation to introduce a
bill to authorize the County Commissioners of Carroll county
to pay the Mayor and Common Council of the City of West-
minster, of said county, the road tax levied, and to be levied,
or so much thereof as in their discretion, not less than one-
half of the whole amount so levied, for the improvement and
repairs of the streets and alleys in the corporate limits of said
city.

On motion of Mr. Gorman,

Leave was granted to the Howard delegation and Mr.
Shipley, to report a bill to incorporate the St. James and
Ellicott City Turnpike Company.

On motion of Mr. Hammond,

Leave was granted to the Committee on the Judiciary to
introduce a bill prohibiting the sale of spirituous liquors
on, or within four miles of Tilghman's Island, Talbot county.

On motion of Mr. Purnell,

Leave was granted to Messrs. Purnell, Dennis and Brat-
tan to introduce a bill repealing section 1, of chapter 442,
of the laws passed January session, 1868, preventing the
hauling of seines in Synapuxent, Bay, in Worcester county,
and to re-enact the same with amendments.

Mr. Merrick, Chairman of the Committee on Ways and
Means, to whom bad been referred the petition of the Board
of Managers of the Red Mens' Hall, located on Paca street,
Baltimore, praying the exemption of said Hall, with lot,
from State and city taxes,

Reported unfavorably upon the same.

The question being upon concurring in the Report,

Mr. Hoblitzell moved that the further consideration thereof
be postponed, and the Report made the order of the day
for Monday next.

Decided in the negative.

The question recurring upon concurring on the unfavorable
Report of the Committee,
