the present water course of said Narrows, it shall
be lawful for them, and they are hereby authorized
and empowered, to dig, cut and open a canal,
channel or water course from any of the coves,
creeks, or waters making up from or flowing into
the Eastern bay, to any of the coves, creeks and
waters making up from, or flowing into Chester
river, through any of the lands or marsh border-
ing on said Narrows, the ownership and title to the
land necessary for the purposes of digging, cutting
and opening said canal channel or water course,
and for the proper and effectual working thereof,
and to the land necessary for bridging same, and

Power to open
canal.

for erecting wharves, granaries, and landings
thereon, and for such roads as may be required to
be had and acquired in the manner and according
to the provisions of Section eleven of this Act, and
in such case all the powers, rights, franchises, privi-
leges and duties heretofore conferred and imposed
on said Company in regard to the Narrows afore-
said and the various works connected therewith
shall be transferred to and apply with equal force
to the use of said canal, channel or water course
that may be opened under the provisions of this
Section and the works connected therewith, includ-
ing the duty of bridging same.

CHAPTER 465.

 

AN ACT to appropriate a sum of money to pay
William Black for the purchase of a lot and the
erection of a stable and carriage house thereon
for the stable [State] of Maryland, in the city of
Annapolis.

 

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That the Comptroller is hereby re-
quired to issue his warrant upon the Treasurer in
favor of William Black, for thirteen thousand,
nine hundred and thirty-seven dollars and fifty-nine
cents, in full of all claims against the State of
Maryland for the purchase of a lot and erection
