Be it enacted by the General Assembly:
1. That it shall be lawful to open books of sub-
scription in Harrisonburg, in the County of Rock-
ingham, under the direction of S. A. Coffman,
Henry Fower and A. M. Newman, or any two of
them; in Luray, in the County of Page, under the
direction of Peter B. Borst, William Milnes and
Benjamin F. Grayson, or any two of them; in
Front Royal, in the County of Warren, under the
direction of William Buck, Robert Turner and
Thomas N. Ashby, or any two of them; in Win-
chester, in the County of Frederick, under the di-
rection of Lloyd Logan, Henry M. Brent and
Philip Williams, or any two of them; in Berrys-
ville, in the County of Clarke, under the direction
of David H. McGuire, William H. Nelson and
David Meade, or any two of them; in Staunton,
in the County of Augusta, under the direction of
Nicholas K. Trout, Michael T. Harman and
George Baylen, or any two of them; in Lexing-
aon, in the County of Rockbridge, under the direc-
tion of James L. Paxton, J. McD. Taylor and
William C. Lewis, or any two of them; in Buch-
anan, in the County of Botetourt, under the direc-
tion of John S. Wilson, William D. Couch and
Alphonse Finnely, or any two of them; in Fincas-
tle, in the said County of Botetourt, under the di-
rection of W. E. McCord, T. G. Goodwin and W.
A. Glasgow, or any two of them; and in Salem,
in the County of Roanoke, under the direc-
tion of Bernard Pitzen, Frederick Johnston and
George W. Shanks, or any two of them; and in
Stannardsville, in the County of Greene, under the
direction of John B. White, George J. Stevens,
Wyatt S. Beasley, James F. Appold and William
T. Sims, or any two of them; and in such other
place or places, and under the direction of such
agents or agent as a majority of the commissioners
at either of the above named places may designate,
