CHAPTER 439.

AN ACT to amend an Act passed at December
session, eighteen hundred and forty-five, Chap-
ter thirty-seven, entitled "An Act to Incorpo-
rate the Mutual Insurance Company of Wash-
ington County," and the several Acts supple-
mentary thereto and amendatory thereof.

Repealed and
re-enacted.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That the fourth Section of the Act
passed at December session, eighteen hundred and
forty-five, Chapter thirty-seven, entitled "An Act
to Incorporate the Mutual Insurance Campany of
Washington County," be, and the same is hereby
repealed and re-enacted so as to read as follows:
The Board of Directors of the Mutual Insurance
Company of Washington County, shall have full
power and authority to elect the officers named, to
fix their salaries, to approve the bonds required
from such officers, and to prescribe the penalties
thereof; and the said Company are hereby invested
with all the powers requisite and proper to carry
this Act into effect, and in case any vacancy or

vacancies shall occur in the Board of Directors
from death, resignation or otherwise, the Board of
Directors shall supply such vacancy or vacancies
until the next annual election.

Sec. 2. And be it enacted, That the fifth section
of said Act of eighteen hundred and forty-five,
Chapter thirty-seven, be, and the same is hereby
repealed and re-enacted so as to read as follows:
The Board of Directors, upon the application of
any person or persons, or any body corporate
desiring to become a member or members of said
Company by insuring property therein, or upon
the application of any old member desiring new or
additional insurance in said Company, may re-
ceive said applicant as a member of said Com-
