SATURDAY, February 12, 1870.

The House met and was opened with prayer by the Rev.
Dr. Edwards.

Present at the call of the roll the following members:

Messrs. Latrobe, (Speaker,) Loker, Martin, Beck, Wilmer,
Kilbourn, Mitchell, Chapman, Shipley, Gatch, Turner, Ham-
mond, Hardcastle, of Talbot, Brattan,Lankford,Harrington,
Owens, Richards, Marbury, Wootton, Dennis, Purnell,
Thomas, of Frederick, Bowlus, Ritter, White, Baldwin, of
Harford, Streett, Hopkins, Hardcastle, of Caroline, Blake,
Webb, Wilson, of Baltimore city, McLane, Kirk, Collins,
Markland, Neill, Sword, Seibert, Kean, Myers, Percy, Jor-
dan, Merrick, Gorman, Crawford, Gordy—48.

The Speaker laid before the House the following report of
the Comptroller in response to the order of the House :

COMPTROLLER'S OFFICE,

Annapolis, Feb. 10, 1870.
Hon. F. G. Latrobe,

Speaker of the House of Delegates :

DEAR SIR : In compliance with the following order passed
the House on the 19th ult., and which has just been received,
to wit: "Ordered that the Comptroller of the Treasury be,
and he is hereby requested, to inform this House the amount
paid for publishing the laws passed at the session of 1868, in
the several newspapers of the State," I beg leave to make
the annexed statement, which shows what papers were au-
thorized to publish the general laws of 1868, the amount re-
ceived by each paper, and the total paid for said publication.
All of which is respectfully submitted.
