CHAPTER 306.
AN ACT to repeal Section seven, Article forty-two,
of the Code of Public General Laws, and to re-
enact and amend the same by adding a clause au-
thorizing the Governor to remit any part of the
time for which any person may be sentenced to
confinement in the penitentiary.

Repealed and
re-enacted.
|
Section, 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That Section seven, (7) of Article
forty-two, of the Code of Public General Laws, be
and the same is hereby repealed, re-enacted and
amended so as to read as follows:

change.
|
7. The Governor, upon giving the notice re-
quired by the Constitution, may commute or change
any sentence of death into confinement in the pen-
itentiary or banishment, for such period as he shall
think expedient, and on giving such notice he may
pardon any person convicted of crime on such con-
ditions as he may prescribe, or he may, upon like
notice, remit any part of the time for which any
person may be sentenced to confinement in the
penitentiary, on such like conditions, without such
remission operating as a full pardon to any such
person.

Sec. 2. And be it, enacted, That this Act shall
take effect from the date of its passage.

Commissioners of Baltimore county to sell stock
of Turnpike Roads owned and held by Baltimore
