CHAPTER 288.

AN ACT to authorize the Governor to appoint an
additional Justice of the Peace for the Fourth
Election District in Montgomery County.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That the Governor be, and he is
hereby authorized to appoint a Justice of the Peace
for the fourth district in Montgomery County, in
addition to the number now required by law, to be
appointed in said county.
|

Sec. 2. And be it enacted, That this Act shall
take effect from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 289.

AN ACT supplementary to an Act passed at the
January session, eighteen hundred and sixty-
eight, chapter three hundred and sixty-three,
restricting the powers of the County Commis-
sioners of Howard County in issuing the bonds
of the county in aid of Turnpike Companies.

SECTlON 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That the County Commissioners of
Howard County shall not he authorized to issue
any bonds or credit of the county, or subscribe to
any turnpike company as authorized by the Act of
eighteen hundred and sixty-eight, Chapter three
hundred and fifty-three, until the President of the
Board of Stockholders of said Company shall first
have filed a statement under oath, in the office of
