LAWS OF MARYLAND.

 

CHAPTER 277.

AN ACT to repeal so much of Section twelve,
Chapter two hundred and sixty- seven, of the
Act passed March eighteen hundred and sixty,
entitled an Act to incorporate a Company to
open in part, and improve the road from Frede-
rick city, in Frederick county, to the Spout
Spring, &C., as relates to rates of toll, and en-
act the following instead, viz :

Rates of toll.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly
of Maryland, That Section twelve of the aforesaid
Act so far as the same relates to rates of toll be,
and the same is hereby repealed and enact instead
the following increase in the said rates; that is to
say, for every score of cattle, twenty cents, for
every score of sheep or hogs, ten cents, and at the
same rate for any lesser number. For every horse
and rider, or led or driven horse, eight cents. For
every sulkey, chaise, gig, or other vehicle of plea-
sure and one horse ten cents. For every chariot,
coach, barouche, stage or other vehicle with two
horses attached, and with four wheels twenty cents.
For each of the vehicles last enumerated having
four horses attached, thirty cents; and for every
other vehicle used for the transportation of passen-
gers by whatsoever name the same may be called
with or without wheels the like sum, according to
the number of horses, mules, or oxen drawing the
same; for every cart or wagon, the wheels of which
are under four inches tread or breadth, for each
horse, mule or ox drawing, ten cents, for every
cart or wagon, the wheels of which exceed four
inches in tread, and not over five inches, for every
horse, mule or ox drawing, six cents, and for every
cart or wagon, the breadth of wheels heing six
inches, for every horse, mule or ox drawing the
same, four cents.

Exempt.

Sec. 2. And be it enacted, That the proviso, in
said Section twelve, relating to stockholders own-
ing two hundred dollars of stock shall be exempt
from paying more than once a day, the same rate
of tolls established by this amendment.
